Eduardo Viveiros de Castro, born in 1951 in Brazil, lives in Rio de Janeiro, where he is Professor at the National Museum of the Federal University. He has published many articles and books including The Inconstancy of the Indian Soul: The Encounter of Catholics and Cannibals in 16th-Century Brazil (2011 [2002]), Métaphysiques cannibales (2009), and From the Enemy’s Point of View: Humanity and Divinity in an Amazonian Society (1992).
