Giorgio Morandi was born in Bologna in 1890 and died there in 1964. He was a Professor at the Accademia di Belle Arti of Bologna. His works are part of international collections and were exhibited frequently during his life, including the Biennale di Venezia several times since 1928 and documenta 1 and 2 (1955, 1959). In 1957, he was awarded the Grand Prize at the Bienal de São Paulo.
