Imre Szeman was born in 1968 in Canada and is Canada Research Chair in Cultural Studies and Professor of English, Film Studies, and Sociology at the University of Alberta. He founded the Canadian Association of Cultural Studies and the journal Reviews in Cultural Theory and is co-editor of Mediations. He has written numerous books and articles. Currently, he is working on a monograph on the cultural politics of oil.
