Born in 1955 in New York City, Peter L. Galison is Professor of the History of Science and Physics at Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass. His publications include Objectivity (2007), Einstein’s Clocks, Poincaré’s Maps (2003), and Image and Logic: A Material Culture of Microphysics (1997). He has written and directed the films Secrecy (2008) and The Ultimate Weapon: The H-Bomb Dilemma (2000). In 1999, Galison was awarded the Max Planck Prize, and he was named a MacArthur Foundation Fellow in 1997.
