Warlimpirrnga Tjapaltjarri was born in 1959 on a hillside east of Kiwirrkurra, Western Australia, the community where he continues to live. In 1984, his family walked out of the desert, making contact for the first time with European society. He is a member of the Papunya Tula Artists and had his first solo exhibition in 1988, works from which are in the collection of the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne. He has also shown at the Scott Livesey Galleries, Melbourne (2009).
