Alighiero Boetti,

Alighiero Boetti, born in Turin in 1940, lived in Paris and Kabul, and died in 1994 in Rome. After his first solo exhibition in Turin (1967), he became associated with the Arte Povera movement. He took part in documenta 5 and 7 (1972, 1982) and the Biennale di Venezia (1978–95). Boetti has had major retrospectives at the Museo Reina Sofía, Madrid (2011–12), and the Galleria Civica d’Arte Moderna, Turin (1996).
