Mario Tronti, born in Rome in 1931, is a political philosopher. He is the major theorist of operaismo, a Marxist theory from the 1960s. Among the founders of the Quaderni Rossi, from 1963 on he became editor of the review Classe Operaia. In the years to follow, he published Operai e capitale (1966), a work that was to have considerable, widespread influence, together with works including La politica al tramonto (1998).
