pierre huyghe in conversation with carolyn christov-bakargiev

In this video recording of a February 14, 2011 post-screening discussion at the Gloria Cinema, artist Pierre Huyghe and dOCUMENTA (13) Artistic Director Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, discuss the artist’s The Host and the Cloud, 2009-10.  Huyghe’s film, shot as an open set with a live audience in a shutdown museum on the edge of an amusement park during (in part) Halloween, Valentine’s Day and May Day between 2009 and 2010, can be considered a filmic experiment.  To this end, a group of actors, who appear to be the personnel of the old museum, were subjected - under specific conditions – to a series of prompts so that their roles and behaviors changed as they encountered these given situations.
