Marie Darrieussecq wurde 1969 in Bayonne, Frankreich, geboren und lebt in Paris. Seit ihrem ersten Roman Pig Tales: A Novel of Lust and Transformation (1997 [1996]) hat sie mehr als zehn Romane verfasst und veröffentlicht. Unter ihnen sind Tom est mort (2007), A Brief Stay with the Living (2004 [2001]) und My Phantom Husband, (2001 [1998]). Darrieussecq schreibt außerdem Artikel für die Journale ArtReview und Beaux Arts.
