The novelist and essayist Enrique Vila-Matas, born in 1948 in Barcelona, is one of the great contemporary European storytellers. His works, translated into 32 languages, include Dublinesca (2011), Never Any End to Paris (2011 [2003]), Montano’s Malady (2007), and Bartleby & Co. (2004). He belongs to the illustrious Order of the Finnegans Knights that meets every year in Dublin to honor James Joyce. Vila-Matas has received numerous awards for his books, among them the Rómulo Gallegos Prize (2001), the Médicis Etranger Award (2003), the Bottari Grinzane Cavour Internazionale Award (2011), and the Jean Carrière Award (2010).
