Lee Miller, born in 1907 in Poughkeepsie, New York, died in 1977 in Chiddingly, England. After working as a fashion model, she was trained as a photographer by Man Ray. In 1944–45, Miller worked with David E. Scherman as a photojournalist to cover the war in Europe. Her photographs were published in Vogue and by Time-Life. Recent solo exhibitions include the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (2008) and the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg (2006).
