DIMIs Re-connected

In the performance DIMIs Re-connected, sound artist Tarek Atoui and three professional musicians from Helsinki play several historical electronic instruments designed and developed by the Finnish electronicmusic pioneer Erkki Kurenniemi. The performance takes place in a larger installation of instruments and apparatuses built by Kurenniemi and a 99 presentation of archival material centering on him and his Electronic Music Studio in Helsinki. Some of the electronic instruments on display can also be played by visitors.

In addition, a conference and open workshop is held on September 14 under the title “Online Archive: Erkki Kurenniemi (In 2048).” Constant (Nicolas Malevé and Michael Murtaugh) discuss a series of experiments in connection with the archive of Erkki Kurenniemi that they have developed. This session, which takes place at sound artist Tarek Atoui’s workshop space La Lutherie (see p. 74), introduces the project and invites participants to explore the alternative interpretations together with Constant.
