Studio d(13) for Kids and Teens

“What material (thing, thought, place, score, phrase and much more), related to your project for dOCUMENTA (13), would you suggest for young people to use, to think about, or to act with in a workshop?” This question was sent to the artists in dOCUMENTA (13), who replied with different ideas and approaches. As a result, dolls, song lyrics, a magic lantern, the country Namibia, and a piece of a curtain became the tools in three-hour workshops for children and teenagers, helping them to get involved with dOCUMENTA (13) and to find out what they can learn from the exhibition.

Studio d(13) for Kids and Teens offered three types of activities: Studio d(13) for Groups was for kids of all ages and types of schools, as well as children from youth centers and youth associations, along with their teachers or tutors; Studio d(13) on Weekends was keyed towards kids and teens who visited the exhibition during the weekends and wanted to drop in for a threehour learning experience (no booking necessary); and Studio d(13) for Teens gave teenagers a space and a time on a weekly basis to engage in a more sustained way with some of the ideas and forms in the exhibition. Accompanied by a Worldly Companion with special interest and experience in working with young people, children and teens workshops explored in touch with and explore the art projects of dOCUMENTA (13) through a number of activities, ideas, and approaches.

Workshops were held in German, English, French, Spanish, Polish, Farsi, Swedish, and Finnish.
