Antoni Cumella i Serret, born in 1913 in Granollers, Spain, died in 1985. From 1935, he was Professor of Ceramics at Institut Lluís Vives in Barcelona. He co-founded MACBA and the FAD, Barcelona. Cumella was awarded the Gold Medal at the Triennale di Milano (1936, 1951, 1957) and the National Prize of Plastic Arts of Spain (1980). In 1986, there was an exhibition in his honor at the Museo Español de Arte Contemporáneo, Madrid.
