Dietmar Dath, born in 1970 in Rheinfelden, Germany, lives in Frankfurt/Main, Freiburg, and Leipzig. He has written various novels, stage plays, essays, and nonfiction books including Rosa Luxemburg (2010) and Die Abschaffung der Arten (2008). Dath is editor at Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (since 2011 and 2001–7) and was chief editor at Spex, a magazine for popular culture (1998–2000). In 2008, he was awarded the Lessing Prize for Criticism.
