Francesco Matarrese was born in 1950 in Molfetta, Italy. In 1978, in the Telegramma di rifiuto, he announced a refusal of artistic production (a “refusal of abstract labor in art”) and began to compile an “impossible catalog of non-works.” 2010 marked the beginning of a collaboration with the philosopher and politician Mario Tronti. He participated in the project “The Inadequate” at the Spanish Pavilion of the Biennale di Venezia (2011).
