Marcos Lutyens, born in 1964 in London, lives in Los Angeles. His interdisciplinary projects have been presented in exhibitions, workshops, and media-art festivals at the Centre Pompidou, Paris, the Royal Academy of Arts, London, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (all 2010), Artists Space, New York, the Kunstverein Amsterdam (both 2009), and Ars Electronica, Linz (2004). Currently he is preparing the book Mindbrowser: The Architectures of Mind. The smell researcher and artist Sissel Tolaas, born in 1963 in Stavanger, Norway, is based in Berlin. She studied mathematics, chemical science, languages, and visual art in Oslo, Warsaw, Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Oxford. Tolaas’ work since 1990 has concentrated on smell, and the connection between smell and language/ communication, within different sciences, fields of art, design, and other disciplines.
