Theodor W. Adorno was born 1903 in Frankfurt/Main and died 1969 in Switzerland. He studied philosophy, sociology, psychology, and musicology in Frankfurt. As a leading member of the Frankfurt School of social theory, he became professor for social philosophy after returning from exile in 1949. His main works are Dialectic of Enlightenment (with Horkheimer, 1973 [1969]), Aesthetic Theory (1970), and Negative Dialectics (1973 [1966]).
