Vu Giang Huong was born in Hanoi in 1930 and died in 2011. She graduated from the Hanoi College of Fine Arts, where she taught and later became Vice Rector. During the Vietnam War she was a Vietcong artist. She was General Secretary of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, Chairwoman of the National Committee for the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, and received the State Award for Literature and Arts.
