The Machine

During the opening week of dOCUMENTA (13), Llyn Foulkes plays The Machine, a musical instrument that he built from a bass string, a xylophone, cowbells, horns, and drums. The instrument is on view in the Fridericianum and played several times, alongside two of Foulkes’ paintings, The Awakening (1994–2009) and The Lost Frontier (2012).
