Thomas Bayrle, Dance Baby Dance, 1970/2010
220 x 140 cm
Silkscreen on Plastik

This frenetic image by German artist Thomas Bayrle (*1937, Germany) transforms a benign colloquialism into a scene of possible hysteria through its obedience to a set regulatory pattern.  Bayrle’s practice is noted for crossing multiple media and subjects to inspect the use of  “the grid” in such fields as urbanism, information technology, economics, religion, advertising and the study of sex and violence.
