the melton prior institute for reportage drawing

The Melton Prior Institute for Reportage Drawing is dedicated to drawing’s primary informational, record-taking quality and provides the basis for international research on the history of reportage drawing. The website covers a multiplicity of usages from all fields of life, consisting of an emerging collection of original drawings, prints and portfolios by relevant artists, as well as, an extensive library stressing documentation of graphic reporting in the early stages of pictorial press publishing.

In addition to such work as Goethe’s watercolors from the German-French war of 1870/71, the collection features formidable minor histories of drawing practice, such as courtroom drawings.
