Besides in drawing and film, the German artist primarily works with printing techniques like woodcut and silkscreen. For
dOCUMENTA (13) editions, she chose an image from her video work Ostia’s Little Sisters (2012). The detail of an artificial light palm tree is exposed in front of a bright blue sky.

The photograph shows the set of the film Rushes (2012), presented at the Kassel Hauptbahnhof. The film is a time travel through three centuries in three acts that deals with notions of imprisonment and liberation. The film is set in in the former monastery of Breitenau near Kassel—a place that had been transformed into a prison, then, under the NS regime, into a concentration and work camp, and later served as a girls’ reformatory.
