Born in 1970 in Bangkok, Apichatpong Weerasethakul has made films, videos, and installations since 1994. He has participated in many film festivals, notably in Cannes (2004, 2002) and Venice (2006). In 2010, he won the Cannes Palme d’Or with Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives. He has also mounted numerous one-man and group exhibitions and installations including the major project Primitive.
