Joasia Krysa is Artistic Director of Århus Kunstbygning Centre for Contemporary Art, Denmark, and founding director of KURATOR, UK, an association of curators and researchers interested in algorithmic culture (www.kurator.org). From 2000-2012 she was Associate Professor (Reader) in Art and Technology at Plymouth University, UK, where she still has a visiting position, and prior to this worked as a curator at the WRO Media Art Biennale and as art director at Polish Television.
She has a background in curatorial studies (Goldsmiths College, London), political sciences (Maria Curie University, Lublin), and cultural theory (Wroclaw University), and has a PhD in Software Curating (Planetary Collegium, UK).
Between 2007-2010 she served as jury member at ARCO Contemporary Art Fair Madrid, as advisor and member of the Scientific Committee at Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, and recently was keynote speaker at the 5th National Symposium of Brazilian Association of Cyberculture Researchers, Brazil. She regularly lectures, curates internationally, and writes about contemporary art, network culture and technology.
